Life lately + a macro update

I really need to write on here more often. I feel like every time I go to write a post so much has happened it’s like one post just won’t do it justice or I can ramble for longer than anyone will read. Wait, does anyone even read this thing? Probably not.

Having steady training is finally a thing again and it feels so. good. albeit a little more exhausting :-p . However I think I’ve been so spoiled by doing most of long training runs on trail because we decided to get all wild and crazy last Friday night and do a sleep deprivation run consisting of 28+ miles starting at 9:30 p.m. and ending at 2:30 a.m. on road. Ouch. Speaking of road..I need new road shoes! But I haven’t bought them in forrrever so I feel so outta the loop on what’s hot and what’s not. Brooks Pureflow? Mizuno I don’t even know what because I’ve never bought them? Asics? Anyone??? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

So last week’s schedule went a little like this:

Friday: 28+ miles overnight

Sunday: 12 miles trail

Monday: OFF

Tuesday: Quads/Hams, Stairmaster 45 min, Back/Abs

Wednesday: Wake up and have trouble sitting on the toilet, 6 miles super easy

Thursday: 6 miles trail, Shoulders

Friday: OFF

Saturday: 10 miles split road/trail

Sunday: 10 miles trail

I wanted to get in a little more weekend miles but my body just felt tired after that amount so that was good enough for me. I’ll be upping my speed work starting this week in an attempt to hardcore PR at my 50K in October.

Macro update: things have been going great. I upped to 220g carb daily, with the exception of 240g carb on Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday. Usually my Wednesdays are between 10-15 miles so it’s necessary before a faster 6 on the trail which is way hard to do tempo.

Now that I feel pretty comfortable with my current macros of 220g C, 58g F, 135g P why not change things up a bit and finally get this whole plant-based diet going. This is something both PJ & I have been wanting to do for a while but we stocked the hell outta some boneless chicken breasts that were on a massive sale at Lucky’s Market months ago but we’ve finally finished it off so time to start fresh. Literally.

I’m sure this will take some time and trial and error to get right but I really look forward to seeing my diet improve a little more to help fuel training!
